SUMMARY: The Vice President of Technical Services provides technical support for both internal and external operations, engineering and technology stakeholders. This key management role is responsible for developing new product line strategies, products and applications and implementing the project in the lab, office and field locations. This person will also provide technical training and process development and manage lab activities with other stakeholders.

This position is considered to be a Subject Matter Expert in production chemicals, which includes water, oil and gas treatment products and applications in upstream and midstream oilfield processes. A high degree of application and formulation knowledge is required for products such as corrosion inhibitors, scale inhibitors, biocides, clarifiers, surfactants, demulsifiers, and paraffin inhibitors/solvents. A superior technical writing ability is also required for technical proposals, recommendations or process development documents.

The Vice President of Technical Services will demonstrate Piranha Scientific’s high-level technical capabilities and emerging technologies to facilitate generation and closing of new business opportunities. This position is required to maintain a high level of customer contact including frequent direct customer visits and extensive networking activities. This role should have, gain and maintain trust-based relationships throughout our target market and accounts from technical personnel to executive management. Key activities include building regional network and customer relationships, working with customers to identify their values and needs, and formulating value propositions to generate successful opportunities to address the customers’ needs.

CLIENT FACING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete ownership of technical aspects in current and new business accounts, defined as maintenance and growth of well count, profitability, and client satisfaction.
  • Establish and maintain required internal and external relationships
  • Interface and coordinate with key client operations, engineering, and management representatives to ensure expectations are being met/exceeded on daily/weekly basis.
  • Participate in all client weekly/biweekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reviews as defined by client requirements
  • Develop and maintain strategic business plan in order to grow sales and profitability, lead the change (if required), and manage appropriately
  • Identification, acquiring and closing new business, at agreed annual sales value and margins.
  • Develop & maintain all technical service spreadsheets, templates, and reporting tools needed to meet client KPI expectations
  • Manage all technical data and software tools necessary for visualization and analysis of chemical program performance data and communication to client for demonstration of value delivery
  • Initiate and lead strategic projects with business and innovation teams
  • Manage, track and report findings from Piranha’s well failure root cause analysis process

FIELD RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Always work within the Company guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Maintain PPE in accordance with Company policy
  • Ensure a full understanding of all Piranha serviced client locations via conducting field visits/audits, in person analysis and observation of facilities, and face to face interaction with Piranha account services staff.
  • Investigate and resolve customer issues
  • Create accountability through Technical leadership, field visibility and trust
  • Up to 5 days/week in the field as needed to ensure technical issues are resolved, new business initiatives and expectations are being met.
  • Other duties assigned as needed

PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead by example
  • Manage technical personnel, including lab staff
  • Work with Account Management and Field Staff to ensure field maintenance, inventory management, housekeeping, and sampling schedule are being maintained in line with client and Piranha expectations
  • Communicate all issues and updates to upper management

REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering or related field.
  • Advanced computer skills including complex spreadsheet management, database familiarity, visualization tools, and word processing.
  • Interact professionally with customers and field personnel, promptly addressing customer needs.
  • Adhere to Piranha’s Drug and Alcohol policy and agree to submit to random drug testing as a condition of employment
  • Physically able and willing to safely lift a minimum of 50 pounds, climb, crouch, bend.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, independently resolve mechanical and mathematical problems
  • Proficient completion of Piranha Scientific Training/Safety Program
  • OSHA, Site Specific training
  • PEC / Safeland certificate preferred
