SUMMARY: The Business Development Manager is the primary link between new client operations, engineering stakeholders and Piranha’s Technical and Account Management teams to ensure the success, growth and transition of new and existing accounts. This key position is a natural communicator, and responsible for developing new relationships and business opportunities, then implementing the project startup in field locations. This person ideally will build, document and maintain a healthy sales pipeline, and provide strategies, economic analyses, technical and commercial proposals and presentations to the Business Development Team. This position will ensure we make good commercial decisions, meeting revenue and profitability expectations.
This position requires the person to be proficient in “production chemicals”, including water, oil and gas treatment products and applications in upstream and midstream oilfield processes. A high degree of application and formulation knowledge is required for products such as corrosion inhibitors, scale inhibitors, biocides, clarifiers, surfactants, demulsifiers, and paraffin inhibitors/solvents. A superior technical writing ability is desired for technical and commercial proposals and documents.
CLIENT FACING RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish and maintain required internal and external relationships for a healthy sales pipeline
- Interface and coordinate with key client operations, engineering, and management representatives to ensure expectations are being met/exceeded on daily/weekly basis.
- Participate in client reviews as required and defined by client requirements
- Develop and maintain strategic business plan in order to grow sales and profitability, lead the change (if required), and manage appropriately
- Identification, closing & acquiring new business in existing accounts, at agreed annual sales value.
- Initiate and lead strategic projects with business and innovation team
- Manage, track and report new business opportunities
FIELD RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Always work within the Company guidelines, policies, and procedures
- Maintain PPE in accordance with Company policy
- Ensure a full understanding of all Piranha serviced client locations via conducting field visits, in person analysis and observation of facilities, and face to face interaction with Piranha account services staff.
- Investigate and resolve customer issues (if required)
- Create accountability through account leadership, field visibility and trust
- Install and maintain automation systems for chemical applications and train team members to do the same
- Up to 5 days/week in the field as needed to ensure issues are resolved, and new business initiatives and expectations are being met.
- Develop and execute a full field survey for any target business opportunity
- Other duties assigned as needed
PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with Account Management and Field Staff to ensure field maintenance, inventory management, housekeeping, and sampling schedule are being maintained in line with client and Piranha expectations
- Communicate all issues and updates to upper management
REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION & KNOWLEDGE:
- Five years of experience in Production or Midstream Chemicals
- Undergraduate degree in engineering or related field is preferred.
- Advanced computer skills including spreadsheet management, database familiarity, visualization tools, and word processing.
- Chemical knowledge and experience including field tests, Oil and Gas systems, application reasoning and purposes, performance testing, new business surveys and pump maintenance.
- Automation knowledge and experience including setup implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance, and data analysis.
- Interact professionally with customers and field personnel, promptly addressing customer needs.
- Adhere to Piranha’s Drug and Alcohol policy and agree to submit to random drug testing as a condition of employment
- Physically able and willing to safely lift a minimum of 50 pounds, climb, crouch, bend
- Safely tip and move 55-gallon drums weighing up to 600 pounds with the use of a drum dolly
- Willingly participate in physical labor both independently and collaboratively
- Sustain prolonged exposure to the outdoor environment and hazardous conditions
- Ability to wear all forms of required breathing apparatuses, including but not limited to a respirator, in accordance with OSHA safety requirements
- Ability to troubleshoot, independently resolve mechanical and mathematical problems
- Proficient completion of Piranha Scientific Training/Safety Program
- OSHA, Site Specific training
- PEC / Safeland certificate preferred
